Cineon is a vibrant, creativity-driven short filmmaking event hosted by Bluebird Films that thrives on spontaneity, teamwork, and the pure love of cinema. Designed to challenge and inspire filmmakers of all skill levels, Cineon invites participants to craft a complete short film within a 48-hour time frame. Unlike traditional contests, Cineon emphasizes raw storytelling energy, real-time filmmaking under pressure, and location-based inspiration. The event is not only a platform to showcase cinematic talent but also a community-building initiative that unites diverse voices in Assam’s growing film landscape. Whether you're a student filmmaker or a seasoned director, Cineon offers an opportunity to explore your storytelling instincts in real-world settings with minimum resources and maximum creativity.
Shooting Location and Theme
Shooting Location: The filming journey will begin at Nehru Park and extend through Fancy Bazar, one of Guwahati’s busiest and most character-rich locales. Participants are encouraged to use the urban atmosphere—from the serene greenery of the park to the chaotic charm of Fancy Bazar—to enrich their narratives with visual contrast and local flavor.
Theme Announcement: The theme of the film will be revealed on location at Nehru Park at the start of the challenge. This ensures all teams receive the theme simultaneously and eliminates any prior preparation, encouraging spontaneous creativity and originality.
Mobile Phone Category – Films shot entirely using smartphones (with or without external mic or stabilizers). This category encourages young creators or teams with minimal resources to compete on equal ground.
Camera Category – Films shot using DSLR, mirrorless, or any professional/semi-professional video camera setup. This category allows technical freedom and is best suited for experienced filmmaking teams.
Participants must specify their chosen category during registration, and films will be evaluated within their respective categories to ensure fairness.
Meeting Point
All teams must report to Nehru Park, Guwahati at the designated time, which will be shared via email or phone post-registration. Attendance is mandatory, as this is where the official briefings, theme reveal, and category verification will take place. Teams will also receive on-ground instructions and must begin filming from this location.
Rules and Regulations
Films must be conceptualized, shot, and edited within 48 hours from the official start time.
The theme, character, and prop announced at the beginning must be used creatively in the final film.
Only one category—Mobile or Camera—can be selected per team. The same film cannot be submitted in both categories.
Locations are limited to the Nehru Park to Fancy Bazar route. Any deviation may result in disqualification.
Maximum of 10 team members are allowed, and only listed members will be provided participation certificates.
Runtime of the final film must not exceed 10 minutes, including opening and end credits.
All elements (video, audio, background music) must be original or royalty-free.
Submission must be made via the official film upload link shared during the event. Late submissions will not be considered.
No vulgarity, hate speech, or content that insults any community will be entertained.
Judging will be done separately for both categories. The jury's decision will be final and binding.
Guidelines
Ensure your devices (camera or mobile) are fully functional and have ample memory and battery.
Carry necessary accessories: tripods, gimbals, chargers, reflectors, microphones, etc., depending on your shooting category.
Keep your concept location-adaptable, as you'll be shooting in public areas with natural limitations.
Be mindful of lighting and ambient noise—especially in mobile category where in-camera audio may be limited.
Backup your footage continuously; tech errors shouldn't ruin your submission.
Stick to simple storytelling with clear emotions and powerful visuals.
Follow public etiquette while filming—do not obstruct traffic, harass passers-by, or shoot without permission where restricted.
Stay in constant communication with your team members; divide responsibilities to avoid delays.
Respect the 48-hour deadline; plan your shooting and editing timelines efficiently.
Above all, enjoy the process, stay safe, and treat this as a celebration of storytelling and visual expression.
